Global Modeling of the Heliosphere.

Authors: Samuel Badman (UC Berkeley/Space Sciences Lab)

This scene-setting talk will review current and upcoming models of the coupled coronal and heliospheric system in terms of capabilities, applications and limitations. In particular, we will compare models across the range of complexity from potential field coronae and a Parker spiral heliosphere, out to full coupled MHD simulations. We will discuss how these models are evaluated and constrained, and how they can be used to predict and contextualize in situ and remote observations. This will be exemplified with recent results from the most recent solar minimum as measured by Parker Solar Probe.
