There have been many studies into the differential rotation rate observed on the sun. Creating a function of rotation rate with respect to latitude is a very important undertaking regarding the evolution of magnetic fields. In a similar respect, my research seeks to utilize simple cross correlation or feature tracking algorithms to create mappings of rotation rates. This method can then be applied to many datasets over a solar cycle to determine what, if any, effects there are on solar rotation over the 11-year half cycle.
