Modeling the Sun’s Far-side Magnetic Field

Authors: Junwei Zhao (Stanford Univ)

The magnetic field on the far side of the Sun plays a crucial role in space weather forecasting and coronal magnetic field modeling. However, it remains inaccessible to direct observations. To overcome this limitation, several indirect methods have been developed, including flux-transport models, helioseismic far-side imaging, and approaches that combine both techniques. In this talk, I will review recent advances in modeling the Sun’s far-side magnetic field and discuss the growing utility of these data products.
