Enhanced density fluctuations are often reported in the near-Sun solar wind, but their generation mechanism is not well understood. In this study, we perform high-resolution global compressible MHD simulations to explore the role of parametric decay instability. We explore the effects of wave parameters (amplitude, frequency, coherence, etc) and background solar wind solution on the location and amplitude of enhanced density fluctuations, and compare simulation results to remote-sensing and in-situ observations.
