The Center for Space Physics and the Department of Astronomy at Boston University invites applications for one postdoctoral or more senior research position in Magnetic Reconnection and Solar Physics. The successful candidates will work with Prof. Chuanfei Dong on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to reconnection-driven solar explosive events, the interplay between magnetic reconnection and turbulence in the solar atmosphere and solar wind, and the associated particle acceleration and heating. A strong background in space physics, heliophysics, plasma physics, and parallel computing is preferred. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art computational facilities, opportunities for collaboration with people in the Center for Space Physics and the Department of Astronomy at BU, and support for travel.
Appointments are for one year, renewable annually based on funding and satisfactory performance, for a total of up to three years. The expected starting date is October 1, 2023, although this is flexible. A Ph.D. in Space Physics, Plasma Physics, Astrophysics, or a related field is required.
