We’re pleased to invite abstract submissions to our AGU26 session:
SM008 – From Solar Wind Forcing to Satellite Drag: Bridging Space Weather Across Domains
Understanding how solar-wind forcing propagates through the coupled solar wind–magnetosphere–ionosphere–thermosphere system to impact satellites is one of the central challenges in space weather. As low-Earth orbit satellite constellations continue to grow, connecting upstream solar drivers to downstream impacts has never been more important.
We welcome observational, theoretical, and modeling contributions on topics including:
- Solar wind–magnetosphere interactions
- Magnetosphere–ionosphere–thermosphere coupling
- Thermospheric density variability and satellite drag
- Orbital decay and conjunction risk
- Data assimilation, machine learning, and AI for space weather
- Cross-scale and cross-domain coupling from the Sun to satellite operations
This interdisciplinary session is sponsored by SPA–Magnetospheric Physics and cross-listed with Solar & Heliospheric Physics, Aeronomy, and Nonlinear Geophysics.
