In this talk I will discuss CMEs, from their initiation in the lower solar corona to their propagation and evolution in the solar wind. For context, I will provide a historical overview of coronagraph observations, both ground-based and space-based, and highlight observations from currently operating coronagraphs and heliospheric imagers, including hot-off-the-presses data and early science results from NASA’s PUNCH mission (launched in 2025). Finally, I will discuss and give examples of the challenges and opportunities presented by the vast spatial coverage of these new observations for end-to-end analyses of CMEs.
