JOB OPENING: PhD Position at University of Helsinki, Finland

The University of Helsinki invites applications for a full-time PhD researcher position in space plasma physics. The position is funded for approximately four years and is expected to begin in autumn 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

The successful candidate will join Dr. Matti Ala-Lahti’s Research Council of Finland project investigating solar wind current sheets and interplanetary shocks. The PhD project will involve the analysis of multipoint in situ spacecraft measurements as well as performing ion-kinetic simulations using the Vlasiator code.

The selected candidate will be employed by the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, at the University of Helsinki.
