Scientist, NASA JSC Space Radiation Analysis Group (KBR)

The Space Radiation Analysis Group (SRAG) at the Johnson Space Center through the Human Health and Performance Contract is seeking expertise in space radiation environments, operations, and astronaut health risks associated with space radiation exposures. Personnel are required to monitor the space environment for ionizing radiation hazards and interact with the Surgeon, Biomedical Engineer (BME), Flight Director (FD), and other members of the Flight Control Team (FCT) to minimize astronaut ionizing radiation exposure. The successful candidate will support real-time console operations, mission planning, and flight readiness. Real-time operational support will include work in mission control interacting with the flight control team, particularly during periods of elevated space weather conditions, responding to and managing astronaut exposures in accordance with agency guidelines and best practices in radiation protection and risk minimization. Completion of Radiation Space Environments console certification will be required as will off nominal hours and shifts to support ISS and Artemis Missions.
