The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) in NOAA/NESDIS is looking for a new Space Weather Scientist. The Space Weather Scientist will advance the application of NOAA space weather products through product enhancements, user and partner collaboration, and project/task management. They will work within the NCEI Solar and Terrestrial Physics Section, a group responsible for space weather algorithm development, product calibration and validation, as well as archive and access of these products for the public. Most of the NCEI space weather team is located in Boulder, CO.
We are looking for a scientific expert and excellent communicator who also has project management experience to serve as a project lead, be a key liaison with other NOAA space weather groups, and coordinate strategic implementation and verification of the evolving space weather operational requirements. The role will include a mix of project management, applied research, product improvement, and cross-office coordination.

The duty location for this position can be one of the following (Asheville, NC; Boulder, CO; Stennis, MS; College Park, MD; Suitland, MD; Silver Spring, MD; Fort Collins, CO; and Madison, WI) and the applicant will be expected to work from the office full time. A Ph.D. in Space Science or related subject and space weather experience are highly desirable. The position level is ZP-4, which is approximately equivalent to GS-14.
